We are a family who found a love for travel together. It isn’t something we all had a lot of experience with but we haven’t let that slow us down and we share our love with our family and friends. Here is how our main trio got started.
My mother Arlene and I began annual trips to NYC for the holidays in January of 2006. The only things she ever asked for during the holidays were socks or sweaters. You had to think outside the box for creative and/or meaningful gifts. I thought her love of reading might be matched by a love of experiencing the places she read about. Somewhere along the way Mum also found her own love of cruising!
Mindy (my wife) and I took our first european trip together in March of 2006 only a few months after getting together. We followed printed google maps from Germany to Amsterdam, through Belgium and Luxembourg, and back into Germany. In our second week we had plans to stay with my close friend Kim and her husband Aaron who were a military family stationed in Amberg.
Mindy joined my mother and me in venturing to NYC in 2007. We saw Wicked that year which is still one of our all-time favorite Broadway plays. Mum joined us exploring international destinations in 2013 on her first trip to Europe when we all went to Paris and London together.
We invite family and friends to join us as we explore the world. The ability to do your own research and book your own travel over the last couple of decades has made the world more accessible than ever. We hope that our strange stories and amazing experiences inspire other “normal folk” to buy a ticket and take the leap to try travel.
We never imagined having a Blog when we started traveling. My mother and I are always fondly recanting stories of our trips together over the years and looking through our many pictures. During the Covid pandemic of 2020, without the ability to pursue our travel passions, we decided to start documenting some of our favorite stories and experiences traveling. We hope you enjoy them.
