I make sure we always knew a next destination and a loose timeframe. I do a lot of research on logistics and planning. I like to create brochures for our trips and agendas. I like to see as much as we can not knowing when our next opportunity might come! I also need to make sure my ideas are possible and make sense and that places are open on the days we choose. I’ve also been told I need to make sure I plan some downtime and don’t kill everyone from exhaustion! 🙂 I serve as the navigator when we get places. I love the fleeting feeling of being ‘lost’ in a new place. I also like a 2-3 hour meal with a bottle of wine most evenings! 🙂
I’m Jesse’s mom and Mindy’s mother-in-law. I would say that my role in this little family travel group is to be the ‘researcher.’ I have always loved history and I enjoy researching the history of the countries and cities that we intend to visit. I try to find excursions that will help us learn more about the area and the history and culture of that particular country or city. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to travel. Although I began traveling later in life I enjoy it immensely and I couldn’t ask for better travel companions than my wonderful, wacky family.
I began traveling long before I met Jesse. I love that we align on such a wonderful shared interest. I transitioned to a full-time travel position for work and began investigating all of the reward programs each travel brand offered for work-related travels. I have become the ‘points-person’ in our group and I have a great status with several of the companies we use regularly when we travel. I make sure we get upgrades when we can and save us money with reward programs! I handle all of the hotel and airline bookings and make most of the dinner reservations that we make in advance.
