If you are flying to French Polynesia, you will be flying in and out of Tahiti and Fa’a’ā International Airport. We chose to stay nearby at the InterContinental Resort Tahiti. For the brief couple of nights we enjoyed our stay, we really didn’t get to enjoy all that the resort had to offer. One of its best amenities? It is a 5 minute drive from the airport. After a long flight, being such a short trip from you hotel was amazing.
Food is expensive in French Polynesia. It takes more everything to import… everything! I used a thermal bag as a carry-on for the flight and we iced down some groceries to transport them with us on the Ferry to Moorea when we left Tahiti. Another nice thing about this location is that it is an easy 20 minute walk to a Carrefour retail center with groceries and about anything else you might need. You even pass this public park called Parc Vairai. this is where I took the sunset image of the bungalows with Moorea in the background that I used for the banner of this post.
The property is absolutely beautiful. Everything looks like a post card and the day we spent around the resort was very relaxing. It would be great to have spent a longer time here and really enjoyed all of its beauty and amenities. We did enjoy a couple of meals at the resort during our stay(s).
The last amazing thing about this location… Flights to the United States leave at 11:30 pm. You have to kill an entire day after checking out of your room before you can get on a plane for the long flight back. The InterContinental Resort Tahiti offers 1/2 day, pre-flight rooms. You can nap, shower, eat and repack one last time 5 minutes from the airport! We took full advantage of that and would do it again in a heartbeat!
